Don’t beat yourself up over experiencing a little less energy than you anticipated and the 'buzz'' throughout your session, it’s 100% normal. Just try these tips to reignite that fire and go get ’em!
Call your SOS- Sister of Support
Give your sister of support a call! Arrange to meet up for a run, head to the gym, do some pilates, or just a stroll down the beach! Anything to get your body moving! By having your SOS with you, you will feel like you have to go because you will disappoint them if you miss your plans, and they will give you the extra motivation throughout the workout! I recommend finding someone of a similar, or slightly higher fitness level to give you a goal to work towards!
Leave the phone alone
Too often can we get distracted, and instead of a 5 min scroll on your phone, it quickly turns into 10 mins and so on! Eventually your workout will NEVER happen! Its better to get it over and done with the first time you think about working out, therefore you are still motivated, and give it 110% effort! So leave the phone alone (unless its for music) and head outside either to the gym or other ways of moving your body!
Make it fun!
If you are like me- you get bored quite easily! Its not that I lack motivation, its just that my mind has to be challenged basically 24/7! Instead of heading out for a run and looking at the same road for 1hr, head to your local trampoline park for some intense cardio, try some new equipment at the gym, plyometric style home workouts, or even a bike ride along the beach! Add some fun into your workout routine!
Do something- anything counts!
Anything is better than sitting on the couch- right?! Head out for a 20 minute walk with your dog, take the stairs (don't be lazy), or even just take the long way to the toilet (simple things like this help)! If I am short on time, I love doing High Intensity Interval Training because it makes me sweat SO MUCH and supports cardiovascular health!
Look at the 'WHY'?
What made you want to exercise? Are you training for an event or PB? Do you love the feeling you get afterwards? Why are you spending time making wholesome homemade meals? Is it because you have more energy and feel great when your body is fueled by nutritious meals? Is it all to keep yourself healthy and energetic so you can chase your kids around the playground and watch them grow? Whatever it is, remind yourself of the bigger picture and you’ll be back out there in no time!
